Advanced steel structures, engineered in Pakistan
Indus Metal Systems is the advanced steel construction and engineering division of Zeeshan Ahmed Engineering Services (ZAES), founded by engineer Zeeshan Ahmed. The company specialises in the design, engineering, fabrication and erection of grid-shell structures, space frames, pre-engineered buildings, multi-storey steel structures and SCIP-based construction systems in Pakistan and international markets.
Where the company came from
Indus Metal Systems grew out of the engineering work of Zeeshan Ahmed. His early space-frame development in Pakistan, carried out through Jazari Steel, proved that complex long-span structures could be designed and manufactured in the country rather than imported.
That work continued through Zeeshan Ahmed Engineering Services (ZAES), which handles structural engineering and design, and through Indus Metal Systems, which fabricates and erects the result. Two names, one organisation, one chain of responsibility from calculation to site.
Zeeshan holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University, and Purdue’s engineering department has published his story, including his role in founding Indus Metal Systems.

Our engineering journey
From space-frame pioneer to full steel delivery
- 2009
Engineering and steel construction beginnings
Zeeshan Ahmed begins working in structural engineering and steel construction in Pakistan, building the technical foundation for everything that follows.
- Jazari Steel
Pakistan’s first indigenous space frames
His early space-frame work is developed through Jazari Steel, an effort reported by The Public Purview as Pakistan’s first indigenous space-frame development.
- ZAES
Zeeshan Ahmed Engineering Services
ZAES becomes the engineering and design identity: structural engineering, connection design and project execution for advanced steel structures.
- Indus
Indus Metal Systems
Indus Metal Systems becomes the operating brand for fabrication and erection, taking grid shells, space frames, pre-engineered buildings and SCIP systems from drawing to site.
- Today
Projects in Pakistan and abroad
Delivered work includes a 23,500 sq ft column-free grid shell in Lahore, a 270 ft modular space-frame bridge for an oil and gas client, and pre-engineered building exports to Azerbaijan.
Work that shows what we do
UMT Lahore grid shell
Free-form, column-free grid shell of about 23,500 sq ft with a diagonal lattice, designed, fabricated and erected by Indus Metal Systems.
270 ft space-frame bridge, AMCORP / PPL
Modular space-frame bridge fabricated in sections and installed at a remote oil and gas site.
Pre-engineered buildings, Azerbaijan
Steel building packages engineered and fabricated in Pakistan for export.
How we work
One team, one contract
Design, fabrication and erection stay with one accountable team, so a detail question is answered by the people who will build it.
Connections first
In grid shells and space frames the hard part is rarely the steel. It is the node and connection design, and we engineer that before anything is cut.
Evidence over claims
We publish what we built, where, at what size and how, so clients and engineers can check our work.
Built in Pakistan
We manufacture local capability in advanced steel systems that were once imported or outsourced.

FAQ
About Indus Metal Systems
Who we are, how ZAES and Indus fit together, and what we have built.
What is Indus Metal Systems?
Indus Metal Systems is the advanced steel construction and engineering division of Zeeshan Ahmed Engineering Services (ZAES). We design, engineer, fabricate and erect grid-shell structures, space frames, pre-engineered buildings, multi-storey steel structures and SCIP-based construction systems in Pakistan and international markets.
Who is Zeeshan Ahmed?
Zeeshan Ahmed is a structural and mechanical engineer who helped found Indus Metal Systems and leads its technical work. He holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University, which has published his story on its engineering website.
What is the relationship between ZAES and Indus Metal Systems?
ZAES (Zeeshan Ahmed Engineering Services) is the engineering and design identity. Indus Metal Systems is the operating brand that fabricates and erects the structures. They are the same organisation, working under two names for two roles.
Who built the UMT Lahore grid shell?
Indus Metal Systems designed, fabricated and erected the UMT Lahore grid shell, a free-form, column-free structure of about 23,500 sq ft with a diagonal lattice.
Does Indus Metal Systems work outside Pakistan?
Yes. We have exported pre-engineered buildings to Azerbaijan and serve clients beyond Pakistan.
