What is a Pre-Engineered Building?
A Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) is a steel structure designed and manufactured in a factory and assembled on site using bolted connections. Unlike conventional steel structures, where each component is fabricated individually after detailed design, PEB systems use standardized sections and optimized fabrication processes. This results in faster delivery, lighter structures, and reduced costs without compromising strength or safety.
How Pre-Engineered Buildings Work
Design Optimization:
Engineers use advanced software to design the building frame with tapered built-up sections, cold-formed purlins, and standardized connections.Factory Fabrication:
All structural components — rafters, columns, girts, purlins, bracings — are fabricated under controlled conditions with high precision CNC machines.Efficient Transportation:
Members are cut, drilled, and painted/galvanized in the factory. They are then transported as knock-down components to the project site.On-Site Assembly:
At site, cranes and erection teams assemble the structure like a giant “Meccano set” using bolted joints. This eliminates extensive welding at site and speeds up construction.

Key Features of PEBs
Lightweight frames with tapered built-up sections
High-strength steel, often with yield strengths up to 345 MPa (or as per project need)
Secondary members: Z-purlins and C-girts
Roof & wall cladding: Galvanized steel sheets, insulated sandwich panels, or customized skins
Flexible spans: Clear spans up to 90m possible without intermediate columns
Integration: Easy to integrate mezzanines, canopies, cranes, solar panels

Applications of Pre-Engineered Buildings
Industrial warehouses and logistic hubs
Aircraft hangars and workshops
Factories and food processing plants
Cold storage and agro-buildings
Showrooms, supermarkets, and retail spaces
Sports complexes and exhibition halls
Benefits of Pre-Engineered Buildings
Speed: 30–50% faster completion compared to conventional construction
Cost Efficiency: Optimized steel usage, less waste, lower labor costs
Flexibility: Expandable in length and adaptable to multiple functions
Durability: Corrosion-protected finishes, long service life
Sustainability: Less on-site wastage, recyclable steel, lower embodied energy
Precision: CNC cutting, drilling, and welding ensure dimensional accuracy
